One of the first things that you will need to teach your Golden Retriever, or any dog for that matter, is where to do their business.

Most people will want their dog to learn to go outside to potty, and the best way of doing this is to use a crate. All you need to do is keep your crate indoors for your puppy to sleep in.

Most dogs will not urinate in the same place that they sleep, so this is a great tool for showing him how to control his bladder until you take him outside.

When your puppy starts to use the toilet in the appropriate place, you should give them as much praise and reinforcement as possible so that they keep doing it.

What I found to be most effective, is to play with them for a bit, give them a treat, and make sure that you show them love and affection.

Chewing and Biting Rules

Now this rule is one of the tough ones, especially for a Golden Retriever pup, but doing the correct Golden Retriever training will ensure that they learn the difference between biting and chewing their own toys and biting and chewing your furniture, or any members of the family.

Now, of course your little Golden Retriever will just be playing when they nip at people, as they want to test everything out with their mouths, but you have to show them and teach them that doing that to people is wrong.

Many dogs that chew and bite at everything are merely bored, so give them lots of toys to play with, attention, and love.

As with most dog training, training a Golden Retriever will take some patience and time and you will have to adapt as will your special pup.

To ensure a well-behaved and playful, but good dog, you need to use plenty of positive reinforcements and realize that your success lies within your ability to understand your dog and for him respond well to you.

While Golden Retrievers are friendly, they are highly energetic and tend to lose focus quickly. So it is important when training a Golden Retriever you keep the sessions short and simple. If you make the traningsessions too long, your dog may loos interest. And eventually it will only be annoying for the both of you.
